Perfect Manhattan

The manhattan, like the martini has undergone an evolution in modern mixology.  The original, hence the accolade "perfect" was made specifically for Winston Churchill's mother by the bartender at the Waldorf Astoria hotel in New York.  This is what he did.

2 jiggers rye whiskey 1/2 jigger dry Vermouth
1/2 jigger sweet (red) vermouth 1 dash Angostora® Bitters

Blend all ingredients in a cocktail shaker with cubed ice.  Strain into a stemmed Martini glass.  Garnish with a Maraschino Cherry.  (Note:  It isn't served "on the rocks".)
